Mobile Telephony

Mobile telephony is not just a technological advancement. It is a revolution that has radically transformed the way we communicate, work, and live. With more than 5 billion subscribers worldwide and mobile broadband networks covering over 90% of the global population, the digitization of communications is now absolute and universal.

Investments in 5G

As we experience technological acceleration, where exponential technologies leverage telecommunications networks, unprecedented opportunities and challenges arise. We are entering a new digital era, where intensive and targeted investments of more than 200 billion euros in sustainable 5G networks, the digitization of products, as well as the development of digital skills, will form the basis for the telecommunications landscape of the future. The new digital era is here, with mobile telephony as the key driver shaping tomorrow.

5G is changing everyday life

Nowadays, communication networks are at the core of the digital economy, sustainable development, and initiatives to address climate change. From implementing green policies to leveraging artificial intelligence, technology is redefining every aspect of daily life. The 5G era is revolutionizing mobile communications, bringing ultra-high speeds, minimal latency, and truly seamless connectivity. Mobile telephony is no longer just a means of communication but a dynamic catalyst for innovation, enabling the creation of new business models, artificial intelligence applications, and intelligent connected systems.

Rising Demand for Data

The need -and consequently the demand- for data is increasing exponentially, with data volumes doubling every two years and expected to triple by 2029. After 2030, the 6th generation of mobile telephony will make a dynamic entry, offering global and complete coverage through a combination of satellite and terrestrial broadband networks, universal security and reliability standards, as well as support for innovative applications across all sectors of the economy, businesses, and society.

The Future of Mobile Networks

The full development of 5G networks will bring radical changes to the services offered, enhancing user experience, transforming business ecosystems, and redefining key economic sectors. With investments exceeding €200 billion in sustainable networks, the strengthening of digital skills, and the acceleration of digital transformation, mobile telephony is shaping the future.

Our Projects

Did you know?

In Europe, the penetration of mobile telephony has been rapid over the past 30 years, now reaching 470 million subscribers, which represents 85% of the population. For many years, the mobile communication experience has significantly improved thanks to «roaming» at no additional cost within the EU, offering travelers freedom and convenience.

In Greece, since the launch of mobile telephony in 1993, mobile phones have become not just an extension of our hands but also an integral part of our daily lives. Today, data usage in our country reaches 9 GB per month per user, while in the European Union it stands at 15 GB per active subscriber.

It is worth noting that Greece ranked first globally in terms of growth rate for 2023, with a 49% increase compared to 2022! Nearly one in five Greeks today uses unlimited mobile data.
