Just as information exchange is the foundation of the development of any communication, the installation of terrestrial base stations is essential for the existence of a mobile telephony network that provides wireless electronic communications.

Base stations are installations that include fixed antennas and advanced electronic equipment, necessary for the transmission and reception of data. To ensure the best possible coverage, antennas are placed at high elevations, usually on the rooftops of multi-story buildings or on specially constructed towers, with a height ranging between 10 and 40 meters.

Primary Roles of Antennas

The antennas of base stations serve two key functions:
• Communication with mobile phones:– These antennas are responsible for transmitting and receiving signals from our devices, enabling calls, text messages, and mobile internet access.
• Interconnection between base stations: – In addition to conventional antennas, many base stations are equipped with dish antennas, which allow communication with other base stations through wireless links. In some cases, base stations are interconnected via underground cables instead of wireless connections.

These installations are the backbone of telecommunications, ensuring stable connectivity and high speeds, even in densely populated or remote areas. The use of mobile data is growing exponentially every year. Social media, streaming services, online gaming, video conferencing – all require fast and reliable connectivity. To keep up with this rising demand, mobile networks are continuously evolving, expanding coverage, and increasing their capacity. The solution to improving the user experience is the installation of more base stations in strategic locations, particularly in high-density urban areas. This expansion ensures: Stable network coverage, high-speed data transmission and seamless communication, without interruptions or poor signal quality.

Less Power, Better Performance

Despite the increase in the number of antennas, the average transmission power per antenna has significantly decreased. This reduction helps prevent interference between base stations and improves the overall efficiency of the network. In practical terms, this means that mobile phones now communicate with closer antennas, consuming less battery power while enhancing call quality and data speeds.
